The Game of Go
Originating in China, this popular game has been played throughout Asia for thousands of years. It is a game of strategy and skill, taking only minutes to learn but a lifetime to master.
The strategic and tactical possibilities of the game are endless, providing challenge and entertainment to players at every level. The personalities of the players emerge very clearly on the Go board. The game reflects the skills of the players in balancing attack and defense, making each stone work efficiently, flexibility in responding to changing situations, perfecting timing, and analyzing and recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent quickly and decisively. In short, Go is a game that it is impossible to outgrow.
Who We Are
The Midlands Go Club focuses on causal games, teaching new players, and sharing the wonder of Go at events and conventions. We are based in Columbia, SC and an official chapter of the American Go Association.
